Another quick post late at night after a long day of work. I apologize for any mistakes, but I have already been up for a solid nineteen hours. As I said before, there is a lot of promise here in this auction. I initially had a lot more picks, but based on how day one went, I am adjusting my selections considering how aggressive bidding was. I wish you the best and I have included my lot selections below. Good luck!
Day Two:
Lot 1201 – Gevrey-Chambertin, Les Cazetiers 2009, Maison Lucien Le Moine (3 bottles)
At around $65 bucks per bottle, this is definitely not super cheap, but Lucien Le Moine is a very quality producer. This is a Premier Cru from Gevrey-Chambertin, and it is a good one. Definitely worth following tomorrow.
Lot 1227 – Nuits-St-Georges, Clos de la Maréchale 2011 J.F. Mugnier (9 bottles)
J.F. Mugnier is a great maker and this is very reasonable price for Premier Cru NSG. I think that if we see this at the lower end of the estimate, we should be aggressive on it.
Lot 1256 – Mixed Fever Chablis (12 bottles)
This lot might go under the radar as it is not labelled as having Grand Cru lots, although it does. Pay attention here!
Lot 1257 and 1258 – Beaune Rouge, Clos des Mouches 1996 Joseph Drouhin (12 bottles)
Clos des Mouches is a great little vineyard in Beaune and Joseph Drouhin is an even better producer. This is priced to sell and it will. Take note.
Lot 1291 – Clos de la Roche 1996 Louis Jadot (12 bottles)
A Morey-Saint-Denis, Clos de la Roche is a great wine and this is a good price on it. It’s not the best year, but Jadot does not mess around.
Lot 1321 – Volnay, Clos des Chênes 2005 Louis Jadot (12 bottles)
There sure is a lot of Jadot in this sale. I’m listing this purely because I love Volnay and this is one of the better priced options today.
Lot 1332 – Volnay, Vendanges Sélectionnées 1996 Michel Lafarge (12 bottles)
This is the other Volnay we should pay attention to today. Remember, I think like a value buyer.
Lot 1399 – Volnay, Clos des Chênes 2005 Réyane and Pascale Bouley (12 bottles)
Oops. One more Volnay to watch today.
Lot 1483 – Gould Campbell Vintage Port 1997
I love port, especially the vintage ports. This is likely drinking now and is very, very reasonably priced. Only issue is, this is a lot of port!
Thank you for reading. I know this is a shorter post than I normally do, but I wanted to get something out of you in before tomorrow. Good luck everyone!
